Homestay is where a student stays with a family around the Dublin area so they can experience Irish family life and practice their English skills outside the classroom. Staying with a host family is a fantastic way of experiencing Irish culture and way of life. The experience that students get from staying in Homestay accommodation is invaluable.

All our homestay families have been visited by our accommodation officer and are re-visited regularly to ensure quality- standards are maintained. Our families offer a welcoming and warm atmosphere, with the emphasis upon being part of the family.

All our families live in the Dublin area and students travel on average 30 minutes by public transport (bus, tram or train) between the family and the school.

All families are on direct transport links to the city centre (you will not have to change buses).

You will get breakfast and an evening meal every day, and lunch at the weekend.
Breakfast usually consists of cornflakes and toast. For lunch students can expect a light meal such as a sandwich, a salad or a soup. The main meal in Ireland is dinner. The host families usually serve it between 6-7pm. Dinner is freshly prepared every night and might include meat or fish, vegetables and either rice, pasta, or potatoes, depending on the family.

Some hosts are happy to cater for special diets such as vegetarian, halal or kosher. Mealtimes are a great opportunity to sit down with your family and practice the English you have learnt in the day!

Students can expect a bed and lots of storage space such as a wardrobe and/or chest of drawers. There will also be either a desk in the room or somewhere quiet in the house where you can study.
The family will provide fresh bed sheets and towels once a week. Students also have the use of the washing machine.
Students will be provided their own key. All our families have access to the internet.
The student will share a bathroom with the family.

In a standard homestay the student will share the bathroom with family members and/or other students.

If you would like to have access to a private bathroom, please book Executive Homestay.

If you are not happy with your family, please speak to the Accommodation Manager. A change of host families can be arranged with one week notice.

Homestay families can host between 1 and 4 students in their house. Each student has to have their own bedroom and students, who speak the same native language, are not placed together, unless they request it.

Our homestays are very diverse, they can be families with young children or teenagers, couples without children or singles; they also come from a variety of cultural backgrounds. All of our host families are native English speakers and all of them offer a welcoming environment for students to stay in.
